Summary

Throughout the 2011 Flat Season, the Bettrends team watched literally hundreds of races and as as result have come up with another shortlist of the top fifty horses to have captured their attention; all of which should prove horses to watch out for during the 2012 Flat season. They consist of Classic contenders, group race performers and unexposed handicappers. And new for 2012, we are also including a shortlist of ten 2yos to watch out for.

2011 proved a resounding success for the Fifty For The Flat Service. Perhaps the most notable success came from a 3yo maiden named Nathaniel. John Gosden’s colt had been beaten on both of his starts as a juvenile but went all the way to the top in 2011 winning the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot en-route to beating last year’s Arc winner Workforce in the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Izzi Top, also trained by John Gosden proved another success story. Beaten on her sole start as a juvenile, she won 3 times in 2011 which included the Swettenham Stud Fillies’ Trial at Newbury and the Gr3 Prix De Flore at Saint-Cloud. She also finished a highly respectable 3rd in the Oaks.

Sir Mark Prescott’s Fire Fighter was one of the most successful on the shortlist based on number of races won. In all, he graced the winners’ enclosure 4 times and finished runner-up on a further 3 occasions. Aidan O’Brien’s So You Think, who at the time of compiling the shortlist last year had yet to set foot on a European racecourse, also won 4 times last year year, 3 of which came in the Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, Coral Eclipse and Irish Champion Stakes. Other notable winners included the 2yo Entifaadha and the 3-times winning Western Aristocrat.

The final shortlist for 2012 will include a brief summary of each horse with one simple aim; to provide subscribers with a season long interest on the flat for an outlay of just £7.50!

Fifty For The Flat 2012 will be published online at www.bettrends.co.uk making it readily available from any PC or internet ready mobile phone, so there is no danger of misplacing a paper publication or leaving it at home when you are at the races.
